polio have been provided to over 5,000 polio survivors and 2,000 health
professionals.

Quarterly Seminars on relevant polio issues
have been held each year. Since 1998 we have held one of these in a country
region each year.

Over fifty issues of our highly-acclaimed
Newsletter have been produced and distributed throughout Australia
and overseas and over 25 issues of our quarterly Information Bulletin.

International Conference Living with
the Late Effects of Polio was held in November 1996.

Communication channels have been established
and maintained with Area Health Rehabilitation Centres and Divisions of
General Practice, as well as with relevant community organisations and
State and Federal Government Departments.

There has been frequent and ongoing publicity
about polio and its late effects. This has appeared on national and local
radio and TV, and the print media.

participated in the establishment of the
Post-Polio Clinic at Prince Henry Hospital and we support research into
the late effects of polio.

have established Polio Awareness Week
on the Health Calendar. So far we have promoted the positive achievements
of polio survivors, the ongoing need for immunisation, and the lifelong
challenges faced by polio survivors.

Kit has been developed as a resource to help members speak on this
important subject with knowledge and credibility.

nominated Network member has recently
been appointed by the Minister for Health and Family Services as a consumer
representative on the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.

been in operation for over five years.

and audio and video tapes has been established.

Regional Support Groups exist throughout
New South Wales and a Support Group Development Program is underway
to help us better serve our country members.
