The manual aims to present contemporary concepts for the assessment, diagnosis and management of the client with a history of polio. It endeavours to assist the health professional to deal with many of the issues these clients may present with. A multidisciplinary approach to the assessment and management of these clients is necessary due to the complex range of symptoms that these individuals experience. All individuals with a history of polio will benefit from comprehensive evaluation and management. |
Network News is published quarterly and was first published in 1988. It maintains a high standard by only including authoritative, well-researched articles. Network News is exchanged on a reciprocal basis with many other polio groups throughout Australia and overseas. |
Polio Particles, written by Dr Mary Westbrook AM, reports information and stories about polio, post-polio and disability issues of interest to polio survivors. These include press reports, research findings, book reviews and updates on polio eradication and immunisation. Polio Particles is syndicated in post-polio newsletters internationally. |
Polio Services Victoria (PSV) is located at St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne in Melbourne, Australia. PSV Clinics provide initial specialised assessment and care planning, and offer long term review of people who have had polio. A medical referral from a GP or specialist is required before being seen in the clinic. |

Launched in 2005, SWAP Shoes is a service for people requiring single shoes or shoes for different sized feet. If you are tired of buying 2 pairs of shoes to get 1 pair that fits or buying a pair when you only need one shoe, then hopefully this project will save you some money and frustration! The shoe database makes it easier for amputees, people with disabilities (such as polio, odema, arthritis) or people with different sized feet to swap shoes with other people in a similar situation in Australia. |
